Evaluation of the Jury The charm of the Tea
House was viewed by the judges towards the end of the first day of visiting the projects so was an appropriate stop off point. This clever little ,play' in the landscape is more ,folly' than ,building' but the effort in the design is in no way minimised. The combination in the simplicity of the idea and the unexpected execution did exactly what it has been designed to do - provoke thought and contemplation. The interesting use of materials in the charred timber evoking the warming process and the suspended rope ceiling interior surprisingly all add to the effect rather than making it over complicated. Sitting inside this little theatre gives a warm feeling ... rather like that cup of tea.
