Apartment building, Nad Vinohradem St., Prague

apartment house

The main volume of the house consists of two basic masses, bottom and top. Four residential floors are in the bottom mass, which forms the base and the main impression of the building. The offset on the left side of the building reacts to the terrain conditions and shows the direction of the slope. The top floor recedes and is almost invisible from the street. It accommodates one apartment only, with many terraces, a private garden and a skylight. The surface of the top mass surface is maximally glazed to look as light as possible. Most of the building surface materials have natural colours and textures. The only colour that is used on the building surface is yellow - rolling shutters in the windows and cement trowel-on-coating in the corridors.
